The
first player selected in last year's NAB AFL Draft, Murphy is one of
the most exciting prospects in the game. The ball-winning midfielder
quickly adapted to the AFL with aplomb, receiving his nomination in his
first match - Carlton's first round win over Melbourne. He played the
opening 13 rounds, before a season-ending shoulder injury occurred
against the Brisbane Lions. But despite his early exit, he remains a
genuine prospect for this year's award - such was his impact in 2006.
His stellar form from rounds nine to 12 yielded 97 disposals -
including 26 touches against West Coast.
