It has been an extraordinary rise for Moran, who moved with his family from England to Australia when he was 15 years old. At 19, he made his AFL debut with an outstanding debut against Hawthorn at Aurora Stadium. Although it was a disappointing day for the Roos - they kicked just four goals - Moran's efforts to play his first AFL match and then receive a nomination was one of the great, yet underrated, football stories of the season. He finished with 21 disposals, 10 marks and 10 hit outs and was one of the Roos' best.
