Round 13 - Byron Schammer
Schammer is a hard-running midfielder who made his debut in round one
this season and is considered by Fremantle coach Chris Connolly a
special talent. The 18-year old was nominated for his 18-touch
performance at Launceston’s York Park against Hawthorn in round 13. But
arguably his best game was back home at Subiaco Oval the following week
where he carved up Brisbane’s midfield to finish with 24 touches and a
vital goal six minutes from time to keep the match safe. Drafted with
the 13th selection at the 2002 national draft, Schammer has played 17
matches in his first season.
